Under The Lote Tree
By Tonie Silver

Jessie Booth of The Lote Tree makes some really special, sweet things.  Jessie
favors a slightly hippie aesthetic for her packaging which I quite like.

Young Jessie really knows her way around a bar of soap.  Da Kine, with hemp
oil, smells mostly of basil, while the Patchouli Dream has a candied sweetness
to it due to e/o’s of patchouli and sweet orange, with a bit of spice from clove
and cinnamon.  These soaps are amazingly gentle and lather really well.  I’ll be
ordering more.  Highly recommended.

The Patchouli Dream scent is echoed in Lote Tree’s Shea Massage Souffle~ a
light body butter that liquefies upon contact with skin.  I’m pretty suspicious
of an all white product, but this is pretty nice, and Jessie assures me she’s
sourcing unrefined shea for her recipe.

Lote Tree’s Hemp & Jojoba Nurture Whip in Rosewood & Patchouli rocks!  The
consistency of whipped buttercream frosting, it applies in a breeze.  Hemp
butter is whipped up with hempseed and sunflower seed oils, infused with
organic calendula and comfrey.  Essential oils of patchouli and rosewood make
for a delightful, very light green fragrance.  Lovely.  Recommended.

I review so many nice things that I often have scads left over to share~ but I
used the Lavender & Geranium Herbal Salt Glow up straight away!  What a
nice little salt scrub.  Very simple and effective, with Dead Sea Salt, almond
oil, and essential oils of lavender, palmarosa, rose geranium, bergamot, and
ylang.

Jessie also does a nifty little Solid Beeswax Lotion Nugget.  I think “lotion” is
a misnomer for this product, as it’s more of a little butter cake of beeswax,
oils, and cocoa butter in a tin~ just rub on, massage in, and go! Very
moisturizing for hands and feet~ I especially like it for cuticles.  I tried the
Tahitian Gardenia with Monoi~ yummers.  Leaves skin soft and smelling
Tropical for ages.

Jessie also offers such unique and sundry items as little organic wash mitts,
laundry soap, and herbal vinegar.

Go sit under The Lote Tree for a spell; there are so many cool things to choose
from.
