"And so he would now study perfumes, and the secrets of their
manufacture, distilling heavily-scented oils, and burning
odourous gums from the East. He saw that there was no mood of the
mind that had not its counterpart in the sensuous life . . ."

Support for Nicole
aka "Littleflowers"

Part of what we do here at Le Parfumeur Rebelle is support our
peers, and not just with "'at'a girls" and blog posts lavishing praise,
but with cold, hard cash, physical support and love through the
lines. Nicole Reinert, perhaps one of the finest Natural Botanical
Perfumers around, has been hard hit with several extremely
debilitating diseases, Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Syndrome,
POTS and ME/CFIDS, which leave her unable to pursue her
passions: poetry, writing, reading, editing and perfumery, and
barely leaves room for life. She is at a critical point where all the
help we can offer as her peers and her friends is desperately
needed. Love from strangers is appreciated as well.
If you are interested in helping Nicole through this rough patch in
her life, please

UPDATE! September 1, 2010
Nicole's health has hit a wall this summer, and she has been
simply stretched to the limit.  In her words, she's "barely hanging
on" most days.  Symptoms have been too extreme.  For instance,
her sensitivities have gone absolutely haywire, she has been
having searing pain throughout her whole body, and she's
experiencing a lot of cognitive dysfunction as well.  Nicole needs a
major break and a major breakthrough...she needs treatment and
she needs more hope.  ASAP.

Paracelsus understands and specializes in illnesses of similar
symptom constellations, probably more than any other facility in
the world.  It's going to be expensive, but we'll wait to worry about
that part.  It looks like her first day of treatment is going to be
Monday, October 4, and we'll stay for at least 4-6 weeks.  We may
very well continue to be camping outside (in cold weather) there,
but we'll see how things progress on that front.  What feels more
daunting is getting there, and once there, being able to tolerate
the electricity within the clinic.  But we really have no other
choice at this point than to try this--and we're planning to push
through, and make it work!

We could use some help, if you have time to pitch in.  This is a big
project to pull together, especially in such a short time frame.

Here are a just few ideas on how folks can take part:

   - TRANSPORT.  We're trying to avoid a commercial flight (EMF,
pesticides, limited accommodations, etc.), but have been unable to
locate a free medical flight (they exist throughout the US &
Canada, but it's hard to do it overseas).  An air ambulance will be
mega-bucks, and it would be quite a fight to get insurance to pay
any of it.  We needs some research help here.  KNOW A PILOT WHO
COULD TAKE US???

   - solicit PHILANTHROPISTS to make this happen financially (i.e.
Buff Chace was successfully treated at Paracelsus, and he's a big
supporter of theirs...).  Otherwise, help us get every credit card
known to humans (thanks Stacy!!!).

   - COME TO SWITZERLAND and help us on the ground(s).  Or
help connect us with some folks there.  It would especially be
invaluable to have folks there with Nicole and me during our first
week.

   - COME TO VERMONT this month and help us with logistics
before we go.

   - find us A CAR and a PHONE for while we're there.  Ideally a
low-scent vehicle, etc.

   - locate extra CAMPING GEAR

   - help PACK, and/or SHIP some stuff to us once we're there.

We could also use some of you rather "executive thinkers" to help
us figure some of these logistics out, and help think of things that
we might otherwise miss.

In fact, perhaps we should set an EMERGENCY MEETING sometime
soon, like THIS WEEKEND???  If not in person, then maybe some
sort of Skype thing (with me, not Nicole of course), but I don't even
know how to set that up.  If any of you have time to make it to a
meeting, please get in touch with me!  Nicole's energy is really
low, but she's drafting out ideas on how to make this all work.  You
know her will and determination!

We might have someone willing to take over our lease at this
current place, which is great, and we would be able to leave some
stuff in storage here if this is the case.

You've listened to us talk and talk about struggles so much over
the months that perhaps the "novelty has warn off."  Recognize that
we are in an altogether different zone now.  This current plan is a
really really big decision for us, and it will provide a good chance
of getting out of this illness quagmire paradigm once and for all.
Paracelsus has done amazing things, like cure Stage 4 cancers.
The more we talk to people about this idea, the more miracle
stories come out.  Just yesterday we heard from someone that they
know a person with Parkinson's who was significantly helped at
Paracelsus.

The clinic director, Dr. Rau, actually called me personally (at
midnight in Switzerland!) to discuss Nicole's unique case, and he
is making room in his schedule to take her as soon as he can.
Normally there is a few months wait to be able to see him, as he is
in such high demand.  Dr. Rau convinced us that the treatments
he can offer are what Nicole needs right now...and the only place
that they can do these things is Paracelsus.  For example, we
talked about how serious disease processes like this usually
involve genetic dysfunctions (as was shown in testing Nicole had
done last year), and how he will approach Nicole's case, in a
stepwise fashion, to determine, support, and "go around" these
types of problems to get Nicole's whole system functioning more
cohesively on a path to healing.  They use advanced diagnostic
tools in a high-level marriage with a vast array of gentle healing
modalities, many of which are unknown in the States.  Dr. Rau has
been known to do things like pull patients out of acute
anaphylactic shock using carefully chosen homeopathics
alone--amazing.  He actually told me stories of other patients who
previously had to live in tents like Nicole, and how he pulled them
into recovery.  And it's not like he needs to drum up business--he
just recognizes the challenges with getting her there, and wanted
to assure me that he will help once we make it there!

Nicole and I are still quite excited about the recent news
connecting CFIDS to retroviruses, and we will watch closely as
research and treatment trials pan out over coming months, but the
fact is that Nicole needs effective treatment right now, as her
health has deteriorated to previously unimaginable levels.  We
now understand a lot more, on a physiological level, why Nicole is
as sick as she is, and the treatment paths lead to Paracelsus.
We've known this for a long time, but we just didn't think taking
the trip was realistic.  Well, now we're going to make it realistic!

So this is the big push!!!  Obviously we need whatever help we can
get in putting this together, while simultaneously keeping Nicole's
head above water until we go.  This part has been a difficult job
lately.

Thanks to everyone who has helped!  People like the local passport
clerk, who came to the house because Nicole's renewal had to
happen in person!  And Alec T for fixing up N's passport photos.
And of course folks working on the trailer, which couldn't be a
more important project--still--because it'll help Nicole get stronger
and stronger, before and after Switzerland.  You know, blocking
external EMFs and pollution (wood smoke starting up soon here),
and creating a safe zone for healing.

Alright, go at it...let me know what you think!

Love to all, and all to love,
Jason (Nicole's husband)
